15 fall recipes using seasonal ingredients you NEED to make this year. A combination of healthy and comfort food and all delicious!

Every year apples, pumpkins, artichokes, Brussel sprouts, carrots, fennel, mushrooms, parsnips, sweet potatoes, turnips and other fruits and veggies are in season in the fall. There are so many amazing fall recipes you can make with these ingredients and I want to share them with you.

Probably everyone everywhere says Autumn is their favorite time of year and I happen to be one of those people. I grew up in Colorado where the season change is dramatic. The air goes from hot and dry to a warmth that only heats your skin while a deep chill sinks into your body. The trees change from green to orange, red, and yellow overnight and no one is shocked when the first snow falls every year in September.

My house was always filled with the smells and tastes of baked apples, roasting root vegetables, pots of chili, and cinnamon scented candles. Just thinking about these now simultaneously makes my mouth water and my mind turn nostalgic.

I live in Texas now and have found out that there isn't a dramatic change in seasons here. The hot summer days turn into warm fall days all the way through December. It doesn't really start getting cold here until January. The flavors of fall are similar, but I don't think I'll ever find it quite right without that chill and the mountains all around.

There are certain recipes for fall that I like to make every year and others I'm constantly adding to my repertoire. Some of those include Homemade Applesauce, Pumpkin Chili, and Pasta with Roasted Butternut Squash Sauce.

If you're interested in finding more in-season fruits and veggies, you can do so using this list from Good Housekeeping.
